The Abundance of Life I & II

The Abundance of Life I & II invites viewers into a garden in full bloom. Forms open, stretch and intertwine in a warm light. Colours shift between intensity and transparency, giving this diptych a gentle sensuality and a generous sense of movement.

The two canvases respond to one another, each with its own energy. Curves may suggest petals, foliage, wings or dancing figures. The eye moves between them, follows a gesture, discovers a detail, then drifts elsewhere. Within this abundance, airy spaces leave room for the forms to keep growing.

Created in 2007 in acrylic on canvas, the two works were brought to White Rock, British Columbia, for a solo exhibition at the Jenkins Showler Gallery, which represented Chantal De Serres at the time. Later returned rolled, they were stretched again, restored and revarnished in 2025 for the exhibition at Domaine Trinity. This process offered an opportunity to reconnect with them and rediscover the freedom of their composition.

Within the Organic Forms collection, this diptych already anticipates explorations that continue today: transparency, movement and the discovery of worlds within forms. As in a garden where every turn holds a surprise, viewers can linger beside an unfolding bloom, follow a fleeting presence and let this world come alive in their own way.

Diptych consisting of two canvases measuring 72 × 36 in each, sold together. Overall dimensions: 72 × 72 in, with no space between the canvases.
