Songes infinis (Infinite Reveries)
Songes infinis (Infinite Reveries)
In Songes infinis (Infinite Reveries), a pale form gently emerges from the colours. Flowing marks and delicate veils surround it, while details reminiscent of rock strata appear within it. They might suggest the memory of stone, an inner landscape, or simply details to explore with the eye. They give depth to this almost ethereal figure without revealing all its mystery.
The composition began during a life drawing session with a model. The female figure remained present throughout the work, though her contours gradually blended into a lighter atmosphere. Her face, the curve of her chest and her windblown hair emerge as the viewer takes time to look.
Then one notices her gaze reaching into the distance, toward a horizon left undefined. Between the stone that seems to hold traces of time and this presence turned toward infinity, each viewer can follow their own associations and let the reverie continue.
