Lion's Bay
Lion's Bay
In the distance, mist offers glimpses of mountains, softening their contours until they blend into the sky. On the return journey from Whistler, British Columbia, the gentleness of this landscape and its quiet immensity capture the eye.
In Lion’s Bay, a search for simplicity guides the entire composition. An almost monochromatic palette allows subtle shifts of tone and light to emerge, while restrained use of the palette knife preserves the softness of the landscape. Water and sky open a space where the gaze can rest—a pause to breathe and fully inhabit the present moment.
The Abstract Landscapes collection grows out of a fascination with places encountered during travels through Quebec and British Columbia. Paint worked with a palette knife and brushwork transforms memories into freely interpreted impressions. Colours express both the landscape and the emotions it evokes. These works invite us, in turn, to discover what fascinates us and draws us into contemplation.
