Entre deux mondes II (Between Two Worlds II)

Entre deux mondes II (Between Two Worlds II) brings together two forces with distinct, assertive characters. On one side, a mineral mass evokes a cliff or rock face; on the other, more organic matter suggests a tree stump, roots, or a living organism. One may call to mind structure and reason, the other intuition and emotion. Like two different ideas seeking balance, each retains its own identity while remaining connected to the other.

Between these two poles, white occupies an essential place. Carefully developed over time, this space is neither empty nor unfinished. Its pale colours were allowed to flow in transparent layers, following a process also used in the Gratitude collection. This required observing the direction taken by the paint, waiting as it evolved, and intervening at precisely the right moment to guide or interrupt its movement.

This sustained attention transforms the centre into a true space of presence. Its traces may evoke a waterfall, a suspended current, a veil of light, or the passage of time. Chance meets intention, and the empty space becomes at once a breath, a direction, and a connection through which the two forces find their balance.

Presented in four orientations, the work continually renews the relationship between its two poles. What seemed to fall may begin to rise; what resembled a waterfall becomes a passage or a current. Entre deux mondes II does not ask us to choose between its two poles; instead, it invites us to discover what may arise from their coexistence.
