Bouquet de fleurs (Wildflower Bouquet)

Bouquet de fleurs (Wildflower Bouquet) captures a moment when light gives the flowers one last chance to shine. On Île Verte, near a cottage overlooking the St. Lawrence River, clearings in a small woodland offer an abundance of wildflowers. A bouquet gathered on the property finds its place on the table. In the dim light, a beam illuminates the flowers, revealing their brilliant colours, as though they were asking to be noticed one last time.

Dark passages bring out the full intensity of the luminous colours. Worked with a palette knife, the paint gives rise to forms suggesting petals and foliage, mingling and shifting as the eye explores. Their movement may awaken the memory of flowers brought home, their presence extending the pleasure of a walk.

Within the Abstract Landscapes collection, a fascination with nature finds expression through texture and freedom of gesture. The memory of a place becomes an impression, shaped by the feelings it evokes. These works invite us, in turn, to discover what fascinates us and draws us into contemplation.
