À l'étendue (Into the Expanse)
À l'étendue (Into the Expanse)
In À l'étendue (Into the Expanse), light seems to emerge from within the composition, filtering through a misty atmosphere where forms appear and dissolve. A palette with autumnal undertones — ochres, rusts, greens, and creams — unfolds through gradients, layers, and freer movements of texture.
Darker areas along the edges draw the eye back toward this inner light, while concave and convex forms create different passages through space.
Displayed in four orientations, the work transforms with the viewer’s perspective. In one direction, the movement rises toward the light; when turned, a form suggesting an arch or branch reaches across the space. In another, the light seems to descend, while a further rotation opens the composition into something almost resembling an abstract landscape.
À l’étendue is part of the Concave & Convex collection, born from a desire to explore the complexity of colour through deliberately simple forms and gestures.
