The work draws its inspiration from a hike in Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie in July 2011. After a demanding climb, reaching the summit reveals mountains stretching as far as the eye can see—a grandeur the painting captures through the strength of its forms and the intensity of its colours.

On the right, a reddish mountain catches the eye. Its slope begins a journey towards the left, accompanied by a sky that seems to unfold alongside it. The ridgelines follow one another, softening towards a bright opening where the gaze can finally rest. This opening brings a sense of calm, much like standing on a summit as the view clears and taking the time to contemplate its vastness.

The Abstract Landscapes collection draws its inspiration from a fascination with landscapes encountered during travels through Quebec and British Columbia. A horizon, a particular light or the presence of a tree can make us want to stop. Painting extends that contemplation, revisiting what first caught the eye and exploring why certain forms resonate so deeply.

Memories mingle with colour and take shape in paint worked with a palette knife. Raised textures and marks created by rubbing across the surface suggest landscapes, trees or gardens, while leaving room for personal impressions. These works invite us, in turn, to discover what fascinates us and draws us into contemplation.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0736/2812/3378/files/11-6024-Panoramique-acrylique-IMG_6488-2400PX-tini.jpg?v=1738666753
